I have a current spec dual core R61 thinkpad almost dedicated to serving SqueezeCenter, and the performance is painfully slow. Slow as in waiting 10 seconds+ for each click.
Mind you my library is 20000+ titles. So is library size a concern? I have been asking for the feature where one can load Squeezecenter with a certain database library, e.g. Start SC Classical, or Start SC Jazz. That would mean SC is accessing a managable chunk at any one time. But it seems no one else thinks this is necessary. May be I am the minority with this problem? I just tried the iPod Touch remote interface into iTunes and frankly it is so slick and responsive, I am aching to try out the Mac mini option. I realize the computer noise and all those provisos, but frankly acsessibility is one of the main reason I bought the SB, and right now it is getting too difficult to access my library thru SC. And speaking of sound quality the Mac Mini seems to be no slough. It is recently causing quite a stir in the Naim forum with the Mini/Lavry combination being compared to the Naim CDX2/Hicap which costs $6-7000. pfarrell;340090 Wrote: > sfgorman wrote: > > What alternatives do I have to browse my collection, build a > playlist, > > and control my squeezebox all in one interface?
