Thank you for your quick and helpful reply. I went ahead and reverted back to Squeezecenter 7.2. I know that you are right about needing Quicktime (or apparently faad.exe), but I think it is complicated for me because I will need to install on a windows home server (HP MediaSmart), and maybe Quicktime doesn't install there easily. So, I will follow this other thread, http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49766&highlight=mediasmart&page=5, and figure that my issue is more related to that thread.
I also contacted Tech Support and they are going to get back to me via email.
