Maybe we're on the same side of the fence. I have no preference for DRM, but I have less affinity for the current state of affairs. I'd like to see a healthier music business, most of all for the artists, and I don't care much how it's done. So long as I can keep that fish off my head. (I have no connection with the music business whatever, I'm just a lifelong fan).
Fighting DRM and grousing about it is like shooting the messenger. It's not the problem, it was simply the first effort to fix the problem. A poor first effort, for now, for many other reasons we are all familiar with.
