Now is this a bug or not? It's not a bug. Select 'List albums by band' instead of 'List albums by all artists for that album' should do what you want. You will still get all albums and compilations an artist appears on when you browse into an artist. Artists that only appear on compilation albums or as guest artists won't show up in the artist list but you will still get all albums and compilations an artist appears on when you browse into an artist.
