Yes, I remember the discussion. HOWEVER, my understanding at that time was, that IRBlaster would completely take over the volume control and doing volume changes through the slider would indeed be translated into "Volume up/down" commands. This is different from what is described here and then there's your issue using your SB's IR remote.
