So after many hours playing around I've found a reference in the log file to BBC iplayer when I was trying to play a radio stream that most definately wasn't a BBC one, disabling the iplayer plugin seems to have cleared up the problem, although I've had to modify all my radio links that go through iplayer to other url's?
