Using the on-board video, but the machine is running headless on a shelf out in the garage. You could run it with no video card however.
I either use SSH or the FreeNas web interface to manage it. I had XP running on it before but found that FreeNas was much more stable and a lot faster. I guess that's what you get from an OS that boots out of 96MB or so. It took a couple of days of mucking about to get the configuration the way I liked it but now I could build up one of these in about 30 minutes or so. I also have a 1.5 TB external drive plugged in to it and a cron job backs up the library at 2:00AM every day. The box was purpose built as a music server. As a bonus it does DAAP so the library shows up in iTunes (or a Roku, gasp!!) also. I do not have a power meter but would guess that it is pretty low wattage when the HD is idling. I have to add that I am an IT professional that builds and maintains high performance heterogeneous networks and graphics workstations for Medical Imaging and get to play with some very high end stuff, but every time I light up my Squeezebox or Boom it puts a smile on my face and I marvel at the technology and the community surrounding it. -- Relwell ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Relwell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20448 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60181 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
