Here are a couple of things to check. Are you using the SqueezeNetwork or SqueezeCenter? Is your connection wireless, if so what is the signal strength?
I have found that in my home that a Boom alarm operating on the Squeeze network with a signal strength of less than 60 is TOTALLY unreliable, while it works fine on the SqueezeCenter.
