No real need but could be nice if someone brings along an analog
source.

Why not?
OK, you need separate headphone amp plus maybe some separation on the
power supply side.
Analog in: this is analog, just feed it through and turn it off, if you
don't use it.

Yep. "Volume" is one of 14 identically looking buttons with thin
writing on the wall above it. Which you rarely ever use if you've got a
90% remote operation, so you don't immediately know which one it is.

Until I get a volume screen saver Girlfriend Acceptance of the
Transporter is unfortunately not that good. Especially since she knows
that scheme from Boom.

Transporter's buttons LOOK really cool, usability may not have been on
the front page of the requirements spec for them.
