Unless the Boom gets one of those yet-to-be-released new generation low power consumption wifi adapters or uses 3G/4G, I doubt that a mobile option would be practical or make sense to me. The Boom box is first and foremost a "streamed" digital music player. (Streamed from a local Music Library on a server or streamed from online Internet Radio stations and Service) If you want to play streamed music at a decent volume while connected via wifi... the batteries will drain in no time. Adding a USB port to connect an external USB drive makes sense, but you would still need an AC adapter. A SDHC slot to hold at most 32GB (based on currently available capacities) is not enough storage for me to justify carrying such big box. I carry my mp3 player with portable battery-powered external speakers (not even a dock) for when I want to share my music with others on the go. I tried using my SmartPhone to stream Pandora (using 3G which consumes less power)and it was not "practical" without an AC adapter. "Compact" rechargeable battery technology that supports that amount of constant drain for prolonged periods of time... is still not there yet... as far as I know.
