OK, in case anyone else *does* have this issue, I've figured out how to reproduce the bug, and therefore how to get around it (phew!).
As you know, you add a favourite on mysqueezebox.com. However, if the Squeezebox is connected to mysqueezebox.com rather than to your Squeezebox server, it can't connect to your stream. To access the stream, you have to save the favourite as a pre-set, then go into My Music, then select the preset! What I think is happening is this: when you connect to mysqueezebox.com (which you have to do to get the favourite you set up there), the squeezebox no longer has the IP Address assigned to it by the DHCP on my local network, it actually has an address from the mysqueezebox.com network; in other words it's joined directly to their network. When you connect to My Music it joins to my own network instead and indeed, when I look at the machines IP address it has changed from an external one I don't recognise, to one in my local address range. So, for the poor unfortunates out there that have a Squeezebox Radio and want to use it with Nicecast, here's how you do it: 1) Open up Nicecast and Spotify. 2) In Nicecast, under "Source" select "Application", then click "Select" and choose Spotify. 3) Under "Quality" change the bitrate to "160 kbps", the Sample Rate to "44.100 KHz", and the channels to "Stereo". 4) Now click "Start Broadcast". 5) Under "Share", copy the "Local" URL. Omit the .m3u extension. 6) Now open your preferred internet browser and login to mysqueezebox.com. 7) Click "Favourites" 8) In the Title box add "My Spotify Stream" (or whatever) 9) Paste the URL you copied from Nicecast into the "URL" text box (remember to omit the .m3u part!) e.g. "http://192.168.1.13:8000/listen"; 10) Click "Add". In the Squeezebox Radio, connect to mysqueezebox.com and then go to "Favourites" and select the favourite you just added. 11) You will get a Connection Timed Out error message. None the less, store the stream as a preset by clicking one of the preset buttons on the Radio. 12) Switch from mysqueezebox.com to My Music and then press the preset button you assigned the stream to.
