If you can, consider the 'NHT M-00 powered monitors' (http://store.nhthifi.com/M-00-Powered-Mini-monitor?sc=12&category=1213). These are an acoustic-suspension design, so no worries placing on a bookshelf.
You will probably require an attenuator, and NHT makes 'the PVC PC' (http://store.nhthifi.com/NHT-PVC-PC;jsessionid=0a0109441f436905e28e75754ea3bd6f93bdadfddfe7.e3eTaxmKbNaNe34Pa38Ta38Qc350?sc=12&category=1213) which works great with the Squeezebox (and breaks ground-loops too).
