Yes, though you will need to use 3rd party software (search here for
UDAP) to set it up. So somewhat more geeky than if you have a
controller, but it works well.

If you have your own WiFi remote (ie, iPeng), then the Receiver is
fine. The lack of display wouldn't be an issue if you have your own
WiFi remote, since you could then bury it in a cabinet or closet and not
care.

The Touch is very slick though, but, you're right, it's not out yet, so
if you want to order something today, then it's not the answer for you.

If you're talking about a future purchase, the Touch may be your choice
then, it offers the ability to be a SBServer (with some limitations,
like no web access) and is very pretty...

My guess is that when the Touch gets released, MSRP will be just
that... suggested retail. The Radio has been sold at huge retail
discounts. The touch may not move as many units as the radio.. hard to
say, the radio is really really nifty... but if the Touch starts getting
any sort of demand at all, I would expect retailers to discount it a ton
to increase their volumes.

That's the fun of MSRP: sometimes they are rarely changed but for some
products they are completely meaningless. (I laugh at people who claim
they got a good deal by paying sticker price on a car: that's MSRP, too,
not the deaker invoice price.)
