Big thumbs up for the *Polk Audio Atrium 45 All-Weather Speakers. * We have them out by the hot tub. I think they sound great, and we have had several guests randomly compliment them. They should be in the price range you are thinking. I happened to get mine with "ThankYou" points from Citibank. They've been outdoors only covered by tree canopy all winter and still look fine weather wise.
I have mine hooked to an old car amp and a ridiculously over sized linear power supply. Alternatively thumbs down for the comparatively priced Cambridge Soundworks ones. I have three other sets of various Cambridge speaker sets that I am happy with, but the outdoor ones (that I have in a second location) fall flat (mainly poor bass response).
