Thanks for the replies. I decided to start on the lower end of the budget and went with the Polk Atrium 45. Installed them over the weekend and listened to them for a few hours and I'm quite pleased. Obviously this isn't a critical listening situation, what with the ambient semi-urban noise of cars, lawn mowers, helicopters, etc. But great for background music or casual listening at volumes that won't bother the neighbors.
If anyone else is thinking along these lines, I should say that the AudioSource AMP100 may be a little underpowered for the Atrium 45 speakers. I know that outdoor speakers tend to sound soft because you're not containing the sound within a room, but even on my tests of the system indoors I had to crank the amp's volume more than I expected to get a decent volume level (especially compared to using the same model amp with 2 pairs of Polk RC60i speakers in my kitchen). It's good enough for the volume levels I've needed so far, but it wouldn't stand up to an outdoor dance party. I'll try a different amp at some point to compare. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76563 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
