This most often is a problem with antivirus software. (and the log would be very helpful in pinning this down) Disable or uninstall your antivirus and try to scan again. If it scans successfully you know what your problem is. I now Microsoft Security Essentials has been a problem for a number of people. With some antivirus programs exceptions can be put in to make the antivirus software play well the the server software. I would encourage you to search the forums on this issue.
