The most common reason for an SB3 IR remote to stop functioning is the solder connections at the emitter “eye” can get loose or broken. This can usually be easily fixed if you want to open up the remote (void warranty, if applicable) and you know how to solder.
You can check if the IR is actually working on any IR remote by pointing the remote towards any digital camera (even a cell phone camera) press a button and see if you see the emitter “eye” light up. This works better in darker rooms. If the SB3 remote is not fixable you do have options: - use the web UI interface to control playback (on both SBS and MySB) - use a SB Controller or Touch or Radio to control playback - use any universal IR remote with JVC_DVD codes (must check the box to use this code in SBS > Settings > Player > SB3 > Remote) - use a JVC_DVD remote you may have laying around - use / buy a SB replacement IR remote (ex: Touch / Radio / Boom remotes will all work with SB3) The Touch remote is the closest to the original SB3 remote with alpha/numeric buttons. -- toby10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80418 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
