Yeah, that's why it is best to compare for yourself as there are MANY factors involved. My Yamaha has a very good Burr Brown DAC and I prefer it over my SB3's DAC (also Burr Brown). All audio outs are active (always on) with SB players so it is very easy to compare all output types for a decent A/B comparison. Pure will also mean no bass management if you use your AVR settings for such.
