Yeah, that's why it is best to compare for yourself as there are MANY
factors involved.  
My Yamaha has a very good Burr Brown DAC and I prefer it over my SB3's
DAC (also Burr Brown).

All audio outs are active (always on) with SB players so it is very
easy to compare all output types for a decent A/B comparison.

Pure will also mean no bass management if you use your AVR settings for
such.  Pure can only be truly used to it's potential if you use full
range floor standing speakers.
