portrait is only working in the screensaver mode.
Currently I don't have a good idea how I should arrange everything to
look nice in portrait.
If you've got a good idea - do a scribble and share it :)
There are other reason I left out portrait right now (and don't feel
all to bad with this).
- According to some informal polls most users use landscape mode.
Almost all games are in landscape too.
- I think most people use SqueezePad from their couch. There it
doesn't really matter whether I support portrait or landscape. The
iPad only gets into the Dock, when the playlist is ready and when you
just want to watch the playlist (or skip or change volume). This works
perfectly in the screensaver portrait mode (used it this way all round
christmas).
Do you really want to operate SqueezePad when it's in the dock (is
your dock standing at a place where you can easily touch everything
without breaking your fingers for a longer time?).
If you don't like that the music switches when you take the iPad from
the Dock, maybe think of getting some AirPlay speakers instead?
Overall this might get you much more fun - and if in need you can
also feed it via the computer.
You really don't want to chain your iPad to some place in your room,
I'm pretty sure ;)
- At some time I also want to support drag and drop from menu to
playlist. Such a scenario is difficult to solve as well in portrait,
as menu and playlist needs to be visible at once.
And if all this doesn't help you, then I'm also not feeling too bad in
advising you to buy one more SqueezeBox instead of the iPad-Speaker
Dock.
A phillips Fidelio iPad dock is 250. Cheaper system starts at 180
(after a quick google search). You can get a Radio or Boom for the same
price or cheaper.
In the end this is what SqueezePad is all about. Making you love your
SqueezeBoxes even more, make you buy more, so that Logitech some day
decides to get out a new model which I then can buy ;)
