I run on an XP2200 system with 512MB of ram and 7200 RPM disks (Gentoo Linux). The performance problems are mainly due to the way the slimserver software is written. Throwing hardware at the problem will not solve those design issues. Telling people they just need to throw more money at it is not helping anyone.
