I think the hope was that scanning would improve and this would not be necessary. I know they are trying to improve scanning performance. But in the mean time, I think a message, on the unit as well as at the web interface, that scanning is occurring, would be a very wise thing. I'm sure people have been ticked off by it, because, as several people have pointed out, it's part of the first impression.
