If used as a transport only , the touch is as good or exceeds the TP. It's DAC is mediocre , however the Transporters dac is also not the best thing since sliced bead to some. The biggest problem using the touch is that its screen is not visible from far away , so you got to use a droid or Isomething as a remote control if you actually want to see whats playing etc , or you can also go low tech and use a pair of binoculars.... I have both , touch and old style transporter , if I think of what I paid for the transporter vs the touch's current price , I did not get great value.
