But SqueezePad does not want to communicate with RedEye, it's RedEye
that wants to communicate with SqueezePad.
And if SqueezePad is not in the foreground, it cannot act as a server
where you could send a http request to it.

SqueezePad does register the URL "squeezepad://" on the iPad though
(you can enter it in Safari for instance).
If RedEye can call this one directly, SqueezePad will start on iOS, so
you might be able to program a button, that start SqueezePad at least.

Also Squeezebox-Server has a CLI interface you can send commands to
(open the web-interface, in the bottom left you will see a 'help'
button, then go to the technical informations). 
As RedEye seems to allow scripting, you might try to communicate with
the Squeezebox-Server directly.
