Altough I answered this already by mail here is the response: I don't think it has anything to do with the server version - this sounds more like a problem on the app side. I haven't tested it yet but it doesn't suprise me since the playlist is updated every few seconds to catch changes made in the webinterface/on the player. To be honest at it's current state the app isn't designed to handle playlists as large as yours.
It may be possible by using the subscribe/notify feature of the squeezebox server - I will look into this.
