I am using SqueezePlayer on several Android devices, getting pretty good results overall.
I have one device that I wish would do better -- it's an Archos 70 (and was a mistaken purchase :( ). It is basically a bedside clock/radio and I have it in a sync group with a Squeezebox Boom. But as it plays I will frequently hear audio drop-outs. When I examine the Archos, "Usage Timelines" indicate it's not a CPU problem --the CPU is about 10-20% loaded running SqueezePlayer. It's conceivably a wifi issue, but it is hard to tell. Moving it from room to room may change the frequency of the drop outs, but it's hard to tell. The dropouts and buffer underruns occur everywhere, even on a table about three feet away from the router. Android Wifi signal strength meter widgets would seem to indicate fine wifi in the bedroom, and really it's only one wall and about 15 feet from the router. Wifi is connecting at 54Mbps. If I put squeezeplayer on my phone and set the phone right next to the Archos, I can see the phone's squeezeplayer showing a buffer filled to about 50% on average, while the Archos squeezeplayer is reporting a 20% buffer fill (which frequently drops to 0% at which point the audio drops out.) So I am just curious, what do others think the root cause might be? And is there anything I can do to try to get the Archos and Squeezeplayer to buffer more? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ja2038's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40583 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
