The guys at LinuxCNC managed to get a reatime kernel, but only through the xenomai implementation, which is quite different from the traditionnal preempt_rt. A realtime kernel for beaglebone seems to be planned for mainstream for 3.8 but I did not find any trace of it in the git sources (although I looked quite quickly). Detailed instructions are here : http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Debian_Wheezy_Linux-Rt_Compile_LinuxCNC And I found this realtime patch for kernel 3.6 (https://github.com/RobertCNelson/linux-dev/commit/4ca144074cd260819e9eff6d2f43181cde39f331) which however will never go matinstream as they are working on the 3.8 --> we could go that way but that will means a part of the effort just to maintain an up to date RT kernel for the platform NB : an old comparison between xenomai / preempt_rt tested on the beagleboard : https://www.osadl.org/fileadmin/dam/rtlws/12/Brown.pdf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eLR!C's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19360 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
