To support online services there have to be a business behind the activity, it will never work in a community project due to requirements for NDAs, business agreements and similar things from service providers. Except for this, supporting online services works without a central server as long as you don't release the code interacting with the streaming service as open source. However, I personally still think a central server like mysqueezebox.com is the easiest way to handle it if you like to support many different types of streaming hardware. The idea of a central server isn't bad if you can ensure its availability. I wouldn't assume that SWAMP won't be able to use streaming services yet. If someone eventually turns SWAMP into a business (instead of a DIY kit) this could happen, but you are right that it will probably require som time so it's maybe not that likely to happen already 2013. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98208 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
