I am providing comments from a gen2 perspective. Balanced output. I concur with others that balanced output should be an add-on. Those that spend the extra money on balanced gear, probably will spend the extra money to get the balanced output add-on.
Ad-on Wifi card For me Wifi is important. It is one of the reasons I went with a squeezebox, so I did not have to run Ethernet cables in my house. For cost reason using the builtin card would be great. However, if drivers are a pain, make it plug in play and use the additional card. USB hub I would like to see Gen2 not just be a player, but also run LMS. Others have commented that this is unnecessary, but I think having a combination player and server adds greatly to value to this new device. Right now my only reason to get this new box is for the great DAC john is promising to build. For my setup two USB ports are sufficiect, one for a USB drive and a second for something else. Future proofing is tricky as the current setup may not have the right drivers or whatever to run new technology.
