We haven't decided on the details regarding this yet, but the plan is
that you should at least be able to listen to your local music files
without internet access. We might require users to register and do some
account management initially in the cloud, but we haven't decided on all
the details regarding this yet, we will be able to tell you more about
it when we are getting closer to a public release. The protocols used
for remote control and playback doesn't rely on the cloud, the reason to
handle registration and some account management in the cloud is more
related to being able to create a better user experience.

Based on the way local and online music will be integrated in ickStream
we believe people who today purely use local music might get more
interested to use online services, more details how this works will be
described at a later stage when we have finished the functionality a bit
more so it's easier to show the potential.

Time will tell if there are third party developers interested to provide
more extensive functionality for people who refuse to use the cloud
completely, we have a lot of documented development API's which can be
used by third parties to enhance the system for people who don't want to
use the functionality we provide through the cloud.
