I am going to disagree here. Sonos or Olive One fills the gap left by
Logitech, but it does not have the flexibility of the squeezebox system
and LMS software.

For me and others, a replacement for the Touch (even without a screen)
would be very valuable, as the Touch did not have the power to operate
the LMS software. I thought one of the reasons to go with the Wandboard
was its higher processing power and memory so it could function as
player and server. I want a self contained system to make it simple.
When there is a problem, I don't want to have to take the time if figure
out where the problem might be across multiple hardware and software
systems. I still use tiny LMS even with its limitations because if
there is a problem, my wife knows to restart tiny LMS. I don't want to
have show here how to restart multiple systems. Finally, being able to
be a player or player+server reaches a wider interest group.

As far as using the Sata connection or USB drive, i don't have a strong
opinion, as long has an external drive can be attached. I will let
those with more knowledge provide opinions on the best way to go.

It terms of connections or capabilities, perhaps it is time for a poll
so preferences can be documented. I know the balanced connections was
of interest by a limited number of people, however, that interest may be
from those designing and developing the hardware and software, so i
understand if those features are included despite limited interest.
There are also requests for changes so others can modified John's
carrier board.

The question of who this box is for needs to be answered. Is it for the
computer expert that likes music? Or is it for the music enthusiast
that is willing to learn the computer skills necessary to operate the
box. I have already ruled out that this will be for the plug and play
music types.

It is probably clear that I am in the version 2 camp.

Many thanks to the people that have volunteered their time to develop
the hardware, software, and website. Having to deal with the public and
competing opinions is not easy.
