The surprising thing is that SqueezePlayer works because that should
need the port, too.

You could use a different port than 9000. I don't know whether
SqueezePlayer can cope with it if you just forward to a different port
than 9000, if not (iPeng or a Squeezebox would not, because the server
communicates the port it wants to use) you can also change the server's
port in the advanced settings in the web interface.

Btw: I have a few iPeng users with UK O2 contracts who had similar
problems, it does indeed seem to be the provider.
