The mesh network has the same bandwidth limitations as other WiFi networks, it would be even worse than the OPs current setup because it will only use a single channel. Have you ever tried to sync 18 devices with Sonos? If this is really a bandwidth problem over WiFi or on the server side, Sonos will not solve it.
