Did you click "Apply" after changing the playlist location?
If yes:
- locate the Preferences Folder (in the WebGUI, go to
Settings->Information, e.g. something like
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Squeezebox/)
- shut down LMS
- edit the server.prefs file in the Preferences Folder with a text
editor. Look for a line like:

--------------------
playlistdir: /data/playlist
--------------------
and change it
