Did as you suggested. Inserted an sd-card and used stock player - "pop" is still there! I also tried with an Xperia Mini Pro and there's still a "pop" but a little less harsh - on the other hand it's is - with the Xperia - a "popping" every second while pausing the player; it's like a "rolling" sound, a wheel that turns and for every turn there's a "pop". But less harsh... What I found out was that if I raised the volume in Orange Squeeze to the maximum, then I can lower the volume on the amp and then gets a less loud "pop".
