Hi Bluegaspode, I thought that the change to the app was something relatively trivial from your description. I haven't changed my listening habits but I also haven't noticed the phone running out of juice any quicker. I'm going to put it down to a change in the way kitkat reports app battery usage vs how jellybean used to do it.
