800 Euros is ridiculous. I paid $300 CDN earlier this year for one on Canuck Audio Mart.
I'd suggest keeping an eye on ebay, UK / Europe audio mart, what ever online sites you have over there until you can find one at a reasonable price. As for the original question, I even run my Transporter through a DAC (Audio-gd Master 7).
