I tested the following setup: ASRock Ion 330 with Lubuntu 14.04 LTS running LMS 7.8.1 as music/video server (this one usually feeds my Boom, Duet and Radio), Google Chromecast stick connected to a Samsung TV (sound through a Samsung 2.1 soundbar) and controlled through the app BubbleUPnP (paid version) on my Nexus 7. Works fine for mp4 and avi videos (only paid version of BubbleUPnP supports avi) and mp3 and flac music.
Problem is the bad sound quality of the Samsung setup compared to my vintage Wega amp and Quadral speakers connected to the Duet through a Parasound DAC 1500. But I'm sure if you hook your Chromecast/TV setup to a nice system, that would be by far better--I just don't watch that much TV/videos/movies, so I don't have any need for that. Nevertheless, LMS is imho an excellent choice for setting up a UPnP server on a linux box, not only for audio through Squeezebox devices, but for occasional video streaming to a tv set, too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wortgefecht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63295 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102125 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
