you have a point, but the deal is if it is the dac i dont want to know. 
i basically asked because i thought there might be a simple workaround
established.  also the dac is unlikely the culprit as it was happening
on a less involved dac with analog outs.  the problem did not begin with
a recent dac swap.  it's also not a consistent issue.  some things play
w/o gaps and others do not.  sometimes the same file will play with gaps
and without gaps.  to me it seemed more like a software or firmware
issue.  that being said why do YOU care what/why i post?  you dont have
to answer or read anything.
