DACs really couldn't care less. A DAC doesn't know if a (digital) signal is clipped or not, and reproduces the signal just the same. OK, you might have a sentinent DAC that doesn't like Jimi Hendrix, but replay gain is not going to change the musical taste of a DAC. "To try to judge the real from the false will always be hard.
