I spoke too soon. I leave with it working and within a day his duet locks up. I know that this probably belongs in the duet forum, but here's what I observe from the lockup:
When I owned the receiver I had called it "upstairs receiver". I installed it (factory reset), registered it to his email, and renamed it "XXX" When it locks up, the receiver light is solid white, and the controller looks like it should be working, but if you select "choose player" the option is "upstairs receiver" (huh?) and you can't select it, so you can't play anything. I can reboot the receiver (press hold until fast red flash) and the controller (power on holding '+) and get it up and running again. I think (from memory) when it's up and running, it's the old name, not the new...
