not the guy you are asking, but I have a "kill a watt" they are pretty
cool, and not that much $ (under $30USD) -

I like that you can take immediate readings, and readings over time, say
a week or month (for something that runs intermittantly, like a fridge,
etc). You can also enter your suppliers rate per kwh, and the meter
reads in $.

As an example, I am one of the rare 70's holdovers that still sleeps in
a waterbed. I used the meter to determine that it costs me $12USD/month
to heat. I plugged the power strip from my kit into it to see what
standby costs are. helps me decide what to unplug if I am gone for an
extended period of time.
