I figured out it was not the LMS that prevented the notebook from going to sleep. It is spooler. Not sure how the service got started because I didn't print anything from the notebook for months. After stopping the service and deleted all the "unfinished print job files" in a file folder, The notebook can go to sleep when LMS is running. I set the "prevent LMS from standby" to 3 minutes and Windows to sleep at 10 minutes. I usually force the system to sleep with the dedicated button on the external keyboard if I am using it for other tasks. The sleep setting will kick in when the computer is only used as LMS in case I am too lazy or forget.
I can't see why it is much less convenient than a dedicated constantly-running server since one doesn't have to worry about putting the notebook to sleep. To wake it up, if Wake-on-Lan works (a shame I haven't figured it out), it only takes one click in the squeezer app. If someone uses squeezer app to control the players, the app has to be opened anyway. Some online reviews on the Pi 4 say it has heat management problem too while the Pi 400 is better in that because there is a large piece of aluminum plate covering the entire bottom of the keyboard case and it is 15% faster. But as a cheap bastard, I think it is also over-priced, especially when I already have two reppurposed laptops set up. Letting one multi-tasking actually saves space and energy. I think we should be more concerned about old receivers, for 35 watts at standby is what a modern 55' 4K LED TV uses at work (about 1/3 brightness). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ verycd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49940 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114874 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
