> Why is that your goal? On a low-powered system, transcoding causes burps in the music and it completely ruins the listening experience so you try to limit whatever you can. I suppose I could upgrade the server, but I have already invested significantly in the players. More $$$ isn't really an option.
> If you hate transcoding so much, just reencode your library and keep a FLACed copy around. An option, surely, but a single library is enough to maintain. > Then move because of the vastly superior sound and display quality perhaps? Only when the prices drop significantly. > Where'd you get that from ??? Most "average users" likely use WMP or iTunes. The lossless choices are WMA or M4P. I think if you asked an "average user" what FLAC was, they'd have no idea and probably not care. If FLAC is ever supported by WMP/iTunes, it will become a major format, but I won't hold my breath. -- bishopdonmiguel ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bishopdonmiguel's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=278 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19155 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
