I have been having a problem with loud white noise / squeekey awful sounding stuff between tracks when I play albums ripped with iTunes using Apple lossless and played on my Squeezebox 2 wireless.
I am connecting the optical out from the squeezebox to a Pany digital receiver that does the D/A. The same tracks played through an airport express via iTunes -> optical out to the Pany = no problems at all. I tried using ALAC according to this thread http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?AppleLosslessUnix But all I get is white noise all the time so I had to revert to the previous settings. I don't want to make any changes that will downgrade the audio quality.
