PlayForSure could concevably by handled in the SBs firmware, especially because it already handles native WMA playback. This would also be an advantage for licensing, as the stream that is being send to the SB would have the DRM entact and only the audio out (digital or analogue) is non DRM.
I have my doubts that we will see the ability to play iTunes purchased music playable (without hacks or work arounds), certainaly not in the near future anyway. Apple just aren't going to let anyone do that.
