Yes, that is a 44 pin header. They should have included cables for a
laptop drive as well as an adapter for a normal from (word to the
wise, they have some QA problems with that adapter and the cables
seating correctly; personally I hold them in place with a home depot
orange clip thing when I need to use it b/c you have to press with a
good deal of force to get the cable to stay in). I boot off of a 512M
CF myself.

Not sure which socket you are talking about, not the built on CF slot?

Not I. The only other lead I have been able to dig out, is I think the
original source of these was a failed IBM Internet Appliance. I seems
to share some things in common with the ThinStation, they may both
come from the same reference design. Oddly enough try searching under
the part number for the power brick it came with. I dug up some
additional info with that.

One of mine has a 128, I think it's a toshiba. Be carefull as to the
physical size of the SODIMM, they are not all alike, and I have others
that are too tall.

Fedora would run like a wet blanket on it. I playback 320 just fine
running X and slimp3slave or squeezeslave w/ SoftSqueeze running on my
server doing X display back. You really need a lean/mean distro, and a
very basic X server / wm.
