1. Linux. 2. I don't know. I just mirror all my music files to another drive in my PC ... just in case. You can do the same with a USB or eSATA drive as alternatives. 3. There isn't really much in the way of day-to-day admin. All admin functions are accessed via a web interface from any PC on your network. I don't think you can attach a display to the Qnap, but there is no need to in any case.
