I've been looking at digital picture frames and I thought...Slim could take this concept to a whole new level.
Of course it would have digital picture display capabilities via wireless or wired networking. Also a memory card reader so you can use it with the computer off. And the ability to go out on the internet for pics and data with the computer off, via SqueezeNetwork The coolest uses would be in conjunction with Slimserver and Squeezebox, though. It could display album art, track info, album reviews, current playlist, or other info while the music plays. You could display a different set of pictures for each artist/album/genre/playlist. You could get album art off the net if it wasn't in your music files or folders. Create custom slideshows with musical accompanyment through the SB. Send mpeg/mov/avi/divx/VOB video to the SlimScreen and audio to the SB. Hi-res spectrum display, throbbing screensavers that move to the music, etc. Plugins to display images from a Flickr account, videos from YouTube, RSS feeds, stock quotes, weather alerts, email, callerID + the caller's photo, etc. Search via photo tags - people/places/years The hardware would be cheap. The software would use the slimserver method of Perl & mySQL - open source, cross-platform, extensible via plugins. You could offer a remote control that handles both devices.
