I've got a pair of Sonic Impact Gen 3's (http://www.si-technologies.com/frontEnd/cm_productDetail.jsp?productID=39) which are quite nice and a great improvement over my laptop speakers.
I'm more curious as to how you made the battery pack. If you do it right you should be able to power the speakers too with one set of batteries.
