I tried disabling my virus checker on the server and accessing slimserver via localhost and it was lightning fast. I reenabled my virus checker and it still was lightning fast. Unfortunately, I didn't try the local server before disabling the virus checker so I'm not convinced it was the problem. I also had stopped and restarted slimserver several times since the last time I noticed the localhost being slow. I'll let it run for a few days and check if it slows down.
Even though the localhost is lightning fast (at the moment), accessing the slim across my network is still incredibly slow. So, what I (think I) know at the moment is that there appear to be two problems. The first being when the localhost slows down -- possibly the virus checker and I'll test that theory the next time I see localhost being slow. The second problem being remote access slowness. I did not install 6.5.1 since the localhost appears to be speedy now which seems to imply something in the communications between the two machines is causing the remote access slow down. Since I suspect slim server isn't doing anything different for local vs. remote access (or is it?), I'm guessing the problem lies elsewhere, but where? I'm using http://<servername>:9000 to access slim on windows xp sp2. All other operations to the server are quick (remote desktop, file sharing, backups, etc.). I'm at a loss... - Ray -- RainmanRam ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RainmanRam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7477 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30145 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
